Now that she's pregnant, Ling decides to give up on her relationship with the blind man. She's tired of being a coldhearted sister to her brother-in-law, and she wants to be a good mother to her baby. She tells her parents that she was adopted because she was infertile, and they loved her more than they did. But when she was born, she was the only child they'd ever had. When she was a child, she'd hide in a corner of the room staring at her parents, and when they held her, she would hide in the corner staring at them. She doesn't blame her for being envious of her sister, but she does blame herself for being jealous of her. She also blames herself for wanting to have someone to stay by her side.
