The chapter opens with the narrator's mother scolding her daughter for being biased in favor of her son-in-law. The narrator tells her that she would have been an orphan if she hadn't been adopted by her mother. She tells her mother that she's an adult and that she doesn't blame her for having been biased. She says that she has done her best to evoke memories of her father, but that she never regrets helping him. She hopes that her daughter can have a good marriage and meet a man. She also says that her mother used to say she was the best daughter, but now she says she is scared of men because of her relationship with her father. She goes on to say that her father is really rich and that all she wants is to live her life the way she wants it all by herself. Just then, she hears that the president of one of the richest families in the world is on his way to attend the wedding of a wealthy kid. She rushes to find out what's going on.
