The next morning, the Governess is in the middle of a conversation with her assistant when she hears the voice of her mistress and her assistant's voice on the other end of the phone. The Governess realizes that she has been eavesdropping on her mistress' conversation and realizes that the voice is that of her assistant. She realizes that it is her voice that is being heard and decides that she must tell her employer the truth about her pregnancy.
