In this chapter, we learn that the little girl has been transformed into a "grim reaper" by Tod's creation, the creation of the "stupid bird" . Tod asks Michael to play the "Requiem for Death" to help the girl and her family. He explains that the piano is merely an instrument to transform the life forms of the little girls into the grim reapers.
