The reapers have abandoned Tod, and she begs them not to harm him. She's so confused that she can't figure out who to trust. They're stopping her and not her. She wants to go find the keys to the piano, but they won't let her, because they're afraid she'll run into the reaper. They don't want Tod to die, because that would shorten his life.
