About This Chapter
It's late, and the narrator asks what he can do to help. He says he's just thinking, "Is there such a thing as a little light that can illuminate this darkness?" . He's going to stare at it for a while, and then he'll decide what to do. He tells the narrator to "let it burn his eyes" , or "let everything be silent better" . The narrator says he has gotten used to the darkness, and he plans to go and tell the other guy about it. He thinks it's a good idea to tell him, since he is the only one who's been through all of this. He also says that he can't interfere in his affairs without consulting him, so he gives the guy the divine power to pout on the guy behind him. He gives him the ability to "puff" on the man in front of him, and that's enough to break the "buzz" of the cocoon. He explains that there are "painful cycles," "desperate blood lusts," and "fond memories" of their first meeting, but that they don't really want to tell the guy about those. He goes on to say that the "barrier" that pulled them in was the "he" in the cocoon, not the other way around. He then says that the last time they were in
