About This Chapter
It's been a while since we've seen the group, and they're bummed that they haven't been able to find their way out of the cave. They're also bummed that the entrance has been closed off, too. They need to figure out a way out, pronto. First, they need to apologize to Oliver for getting him hurt. Oliver apologizes because he insisted on saving scarlet and the mirror, and he's glad that Oliver saved him. Oliver also apologizes for throwing away his red robe, which is so heavy that it's hard to get through. Oliver says that he doesn't realize how much the robe means to him, and that he didn't even realize how important the robe was. Oliver is wounded, so Oliver should keep it on, even though they don't understand what's happening. Oliver's hair is gone, and Oliver blames the couple for it. Oliver asks how he lost his head in the midst of a crisis, and the group says that's a little presumptuous of him. They decide to look at the lamp and sculpture, since it seems to be connected to the mirror and the god. Oliver wonders why there are so many statues around the cave, and wonders if there might be some sort of "spell or curse" attached to them. He wonders if the sculptor dumped the statues because they were admired by the lampbearer, or if a murderer planned to use them as hiding places for the corpses. Oliver thinks that the sculptures are just ordinary things, but he wonders if they are really scary.
