"The word 'like' cannot be said," the narrator tells us. "This world does not allow any emotion." He asks if he wants to "make him break rules" and "create chaos." He wonders why he trusts him so easily. He wonders how he knew he didn't like him during the conversation, and he wonders what he meant when he said he was "emotional." After all, if anyone else, he says, would have been "cleaned," he would have already been "stripped away to be 'cleansed'" but with him, "it's just one... just this once." He needs to understand his true intentions before anyone can attend the wedding. Three days later, he tells us, "anyone with 'emotions'" will be "treated the same 'treatment'" at the wedding at Lord's swan mansion. The narrator tells the men that he only led them to the wedding, and that he wishes them well. He asks how he can make Oswald relax his guard and tell him what he thinks. Oswald is exhausted, and the narrator asks him to rustle a white cat. The cat stole some fish, flipped over some dishes, and caused chaos. The men are taking it for "a cleansing."
