About This Chapter
Sands asks about his connection to the gods. He's read the descriptions of him in the secret documents of the Hall of Gods. He tells Sands that he plotted an uprising against the gods three hundred years before, and that he was sent to the north of the Eastern lands after he failed. Sands wants to know what relationship he has with the gods, since he's sure that the murderer is also someone else. Sands explains that his powers come from his natural reaction to the god. If the murderer isn't someone else, then why not suspect other people who also have divine powers? He explains that there are different kinds of divine powers. The regular kind gives control over things like manipulating the elements. The hall of gods can further refine this kind of magic into a god. There are those who have more advanced powers. For example, the master of silver-robe can manipulate zither poison butterflies. This is why he can control human behavior and consciousness. Only creation gods can do this, he explains. He also points out that the master had considered killing all the people in his rage, but he didn't because he was afraid of mankind's reaction to his past. Sands asks if there's any precedent for a creation god to fall from power, and the answer is no. Silver-robe is from the east. Sands is suspicious that Sands hasn't told Silver-Robb that he has some connection to these events.
