About This Chapter
Equality 7-2521 tells the reader that his master once said that "Rot in the process does not signify constant rot" . He tells us that it may take him a thousand years to achieve his goal, and that perhaps two or three generations will pass before he achieves his goal. He says that time has given him ample opportunity, but that mankind has not yet succeeded. He then says that the reason he is pessimistic about the world is because he lacks one thing: someone to love him, the way his master and his mistress loved him. Equality 7521 says that he cannot protect him like a parent, but what he can do is stay by his side. He asks Equality 10-7521 to help him with some questions he has.
