About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Roxane's goal is to get rid of the black snake. She's not the only one trying to do this, but she's the one who's trying to stop her. Roxane says that she can barely smell the mana in her mother's body, so she can't do anything about it. But she can do something about it: she can stop the snakes from coming after her, and she can keep the snakes away from Roxane and her mother. She can do this by using her staff, which is made out of a tree in the forest. But Roxane has a staff of her own, which means that her mother can still use her staff. So, Roxane can do whatever she wants with her mother, even if it means that she'll have to fight the snakes. She doesn't have time to complain, though, because the fight was one sided. She had to knock Roxane out, lock her in, and kick her in the guts to wake her up. He's mistaken, he says, for thinking that he would treat his mother the way he treated his older sister, who tried to kill Roxane before. He says that he's at least as good as Roxane, and that he killed all the newlyweds and newborns in the area because of him. He plans to bring everyone to his castle, where he'll set up a countermeasure against the next wave of snakes.
