About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to the narrator's mother, who tells us that her son has been seduced by the fox, and that he is now going to live with her in-laws. She tells the narrator that she will give him a "private lesson" and that the next episode will be "sponsored by huff-huff" . The narrator asks the mother if she wants to spend her life working part-time, and the mother replies that she does not want a younger sister, but rather a younger brother or sister that is "better" than her. She also says that it is a "childish wish" for her son to have a brother, but that there is a limit to her son's ability to pass on his "mana" to his siblings. She says that she would rather have a sibling than an only child, because it means that she can have half of his mana, or the amount of money her parents can give to their children. She comments on the price of a meal at a restaurant for their wedding anniversary, and wonders if they ate too expensive for their "wedding anniversary." The narrator says that people usually marry between the ages of 20 and 30, but that he was surprised to find out that people do not usually marry in the 30s. He wonders if the woman in the scene is the heroine of the drama, and he wonders if she is the woman who married the man who passed by. He also wonders if he will be able to save his son from being treated badly by his master. He says that he needs two fiance
