The chapter opens with a chirp, or chirp chirp chirp, as it's called in the novel. It's the young master's turn to chirp, and he's in the middle of a conversation with his servant. The young master asks the servant if he'd like to see the servants, and the servant says that he would like to, since they've been hiding out in his room for a while now. The servant says he can't wait to tell them the whole story, since he'll have to hide it for a long time. He tells the servant that he has a new girlfriend, and they're officially in love. He also says that Rinehart ran away without avenging her mother's death. He hopes that the family doesn't forget her.
