In the aftermath of the earthquake, Lizzi is worried about her daughter's safety. She begs the central authorities to stop the wedding, but they refuse to do so. She tells them that she raised her daughter strong, and that they should not blame her for the outcome of the disaster. Lizzi tells her that the people who were imprisoned after the wedding are still in jail, and she tells him that he should take command of the situation and stop following her. He tells her to stop following him, because it will be too late to undo the curse, and he will be gone when they catch him and undo the spell. She curses him, saying that he is making the "curse of motion sickness" kind of face, and if he gets serious, he is going to be imprisoned for fighting. If he gets caught, he says, innocent people will be caught up in the curse and punished, but if he is serious, they will get caught in it and he is just a "kind sorcerer" trying to help them in danger.
