This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between Roxane and the Tree of Knowledge. Roxane tells Roxane that the world is failing because of the people like her. She tells him to stop killing the trees and to stop trying to kill Roxane. She also tells him that the trees are trying to "absorb mana" , which means that they're trying to get rid of her. When Roxane asks Roxane why she's acting like a boar, Roxane says that she acted like that because she wanted to be helpful. She says that the reason she didn't say anything about it was because it was "beneficial" . She adds that if the branches don't come back soon, she'll be safe. She's not sure how long it'll take for the branches to come back, but she doesn't think it will be long at all. She decides to lead the branches away from the tree. She thanks Roxane for helping her, and says that even if she went back to Amel, there's nothing she could do. She wants a new body, so she goes back to the tree and tells everyone about it.
