About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the most prized weapons of all sorcerers are their magic weapons. If one cannot create new magics that cannot be altered by others, they will not survive amongst the nobility. This is especially true of the diaz and waze families. The diaz family uses magic to defend people, while the wazes use magic to interfere with people's thoughts. The only difference between the two families is that the diazes use plants to protect people, whereas waze uses mental interference. The two sorcerers decide to go back to practice their magics, but they are interrupted by the sound of an explosion. It is clear that the marriage is not going to go ahead, and the two men decide to stay behind and wait for the situation to be resolved. The explosion is heard all around them, and they realize that they have been beaten by their mother for trying to stop the marriage. They realize that the homes of the people who love them most are being destroyed. They decide to leave.
