In this short scene, Claudius reveals his true identity to the assembled men. He tells them that he is not a man, but a "scorpion" , and that he will report him to the central authorities. He says that if he can defeat him, he will accept his fate, but if he cannot do so, "whatever you say is nonsense" . He then tells his servant, Escalus, to come back and tell him what has happened. Escalus says that he has not been feeling well lately, and he wants to find a way to treat the wounded. He asks if Escalus will be able to help him, and Escalus replies that he would like to talk to him after he returns. He also tells Escalus that he plans to send Aquila off in a "grand way"
