This chapter opens with chen's father, who is confused by the prince's statement that the family is a member of the "Guixian sect." He wonders if the prince means to frame the family, or if he is just trying to frame them for something. He also wonders if there is a reason for the family to be associated with the sect. The third sister arrives and tells her father that they have arrived safely. She also tells him that chen is inside the "array formation" and that he is refining something. She then tells him about the family's history. The family is known as the "Zhao family of Lingnan." The family has a great deal of influence in the area. The father tells his son that he does not want him to come to the house of chen because he is too daring. The elder chen tells the father that although he is from Lingnan, he has heard about his arrogance. He then praises the father for being worthy of his name.
