About This Chapter
In this chapter, Master Mo-leng asks Chen-Qin to explain the creation of the sword. He wants to know if the sword is made of black iron, green obsidian, or some other material. He's going to go test this out. He doesn't believe that the sword has any defects, but he does believe that it is too heavy. He also believes that green obsidian isn't a good material to use as a foundation for a sword because it's not strong enough to hold off the qi of the black iron. He adds a piercing armor formation to the sword to make it more armor-like. Master Moleng says that he's already been very careful to say that this sword is plain and not bad. He says that the characteristic of green obsidian and black iron has been a problem for alchemists in all five of the countries in the world over the past thousands of years. He suggests that they remove green obsidian from the sword and decrease the weight by 30%. Then they add some screw-n-screw rock and some iron-eating spirits. They're unstable, but they can be used as a base for a formation. They complement each other, and this would solve the problem of the green-obsidian and black-veined steel.
