This chapter opens with a discussion between Zhengzhou and Zhengzhou's servant, Mingyan. Mingyan tells Zhengzhou that he is very happy with the jade he has received from Zhengzhou, and Mingyan praises Zhengzhou for giving him such a generous gift. He tells Mingyan that he has sent many gifts before, but none were returned, so Zhengzhou has the better deal. Zhengzhou asks Mingyan if he wants one of the enchanted jades as well, but Mingyan says that Zhengzhou should pick one of his own, since Zhengzhou is the master of the sect of white sword fighting. He also says that Mingyan might also want a treasure, since Mingyan is a young master of this sect. Intrigued, Zhengzhou searches for the best treasure in Mingyan's room. He finds an engraving on the jade, which he says is from the "Dark Ages", an era between the ages of tens of thousands and tens of years ago. He wonders if Zhengzhou will find a treasure like this, since it is so light. He decides to look for the most ancient treasure first, and then he will choose the best one.
