This chapter opens with a conversation between a young man and an old man. The old man is the manager of the pill pavilion, and the young man is a member of the local law enforcement team. The young man tells the old man that he has heard that the li family is planning to demolish the family's shop in the market, and that the young men are trying to stop the family from doing so. The older man says that if the family tries to stop him, it will be too late. The law enforcement officer says that the shop is always law-abiding and that they have received word that the family is selling "substandard pills" in the shop. He says that it is natural that they should fight for justice and to eliminate unscrupulous shops. The elder man replies that he would have destroyed the shop if he were the owner, but he says that his team will not spare any corrupt merchant. He calls the elder man a "role model" and says that he will never tolerate evil forces in any part of the city. The two young men go to the market to find out what the hell is going on.
