This chapter opens with a description of the special effects of the true qi pills that have been introduced in the previous chapter. The narrator tells us that the entire market has run out of the pills, and that even the royals have been sent to the pills pavilion to buy the pills. He also says that the pills can break the "inherent system" of the pill market in a very short time. The master of the pavilion tells the young master that the herbs have been placed in his refining room. The young master says that he will ask someone to take the herbs for a tour, and then he and the master will take care of themselves. He then asks the master to help him refine the herbs again, and he says that this time he will do it himself. He tells the master that he is only a "grade three alchemist" and that he does not have the ability to extract the effects from the herbs.
