The next day, chen opens the last of the twelve gates. He feels refreshed and ready to go back to his old life. He wonders how he managed to open so many gates in such a short period of time. He also wonders why he can't sleep at night. He decides to go to the twelfth gate and use the formula in the nine-star scroll to open it. He's glad he did it, because it wiped away all the despair that he felt in his previous life. Now that he's opened the gates, he feels like he can go to sleep. He wants to go and rest, so he presses on to the ninth gate. He notices that the natural qi in his body penetrates the empty gates, and he feels as though he has reached a peak in his life that he couldn't have reached before. The nine star scroll, he says, is the "most mysterious scroll" that he has ever seen. It makes him feel refreshed, and it also removes all of his sleepiness. The secret formula of the scroll is so fast that it out-matches any scroll that he had ever seen before. He knows that he must come back to the tower the next day.
