"Twenty-eight guys named nick" The narrator introduces us to a group of young men in the summer of 1982. They're in a small town called Woodlake, outside of New York City. One of the guys introduces himself as "Nicky" and asks if he's feeling well. He's been hanging out with a girl named "Mary" and he'd like to get to know her a little better. He tells her that he loves her too, and asks her if she'd be willing to meet him for a date tonight. She's cool with that, but she doesn't want to tell him that she's sick or cooped up in her room. The guy asks if they're going to have sex tonight, and the narrator tells him that he'll have sex with a couple of guys who are "real nice guys" . The narrator then asks the guy if he wants to go out on a date with some truckers. The dude says that's a good idea, but the narrator still wants to know how much the guys are willing to pay for the date. The man says that they'll pay a little more if they go out with "a couple of truckers" , and then the narrator says that the guy cheated him, and that he knows he got more "balls" out of the guy than he thought he did. He thanks the guy for saving the day, and says that if the guys still want to hang out, they should come over to his house.
