"Origin" is the title of this short scene, which takes place in the summer of 1980 in Baltimore. It begins with a conversation between a young man and his father. The father tells the young man to get out of his car before the police find them. The young man tells him that he was supposed to take a bag of beer from the party, but he doesn't seem to have done so. He tells the father that he wants to go home and tell his wife, but the baby starts crying, and the father asks where the baby's parents are. He says that he's going to tell his father about the incident, and then he'll tell the father about his friend, Scott, who is also at the party. Scott says that his mother killed herself before he got to the party because her sonny was like his "albatross" . Scott tells his father that the party was just like his mother's suicide, and that his sonny is like his father's "batross." He tells Scott that he forgot to give him one of his thanks for the party and that Scott is very conservative. He also says that Scott's mother left him and his sister in the door of the party so that they wouldn't be able to leave. He apologizes for ruining his sister's stockings, though he won't have to buy them again. Scott thanks his father for being such a good host, and he leaves the party to clean himself up.
