About This Chapter
The narrator jumps back in time and tells us that he's been thinking about starting a band with his friends. He wants to start a band, but he doesn't have the money to start one. He's worried about how he'll be able to make enough money to buy a new pair of shoes. He also worries about whether or not his friends will like him. They're not going to like him, he says, if they don't like him for who he is. He says he went to school the same way everyone else did, and he joined a club that was just like everyone else's. Wow, even people who have lives have their own problems. The narrator says he wants to do something, but nobody else is capable of doing it. He asks the narrator if he can't just give it to him, and the narrator agrees that he can. He tells the narrator that he isn't fujieda's boyfriend, and that he never saw the girl as a friend like he does. He thinks that's because she's so strait-laced that she'll never step outside of her comfort zone. He adds that he thinks that the narrator is getting bored of being told what to do. He wonders if there's something going on between him and mura, and wonders if mura is going to go to school because of him.
