About This Chapter
Three years have passed, and the narrator still thinks about the girl he met in high school. He's now graduated from high school, and he's ready to go back to his job as a teacher's aide at a school in a small town in the middle of nowhere. The narrator is bummed out that his old friend, the imam's son, hasn't graduated yet. He thinks that the world is full of "crap world" , and that the boy has no idea how to deal with people. The school has no sports, and no job lined up for him. He doesn't know how to act like a friend to his new teacher, who's been teaching him since he was a kid. The teacher, he says, is a "normal and diligent scold" . The girl, the narrator says, was the "quietest and most hard" student at the school, but she didn't pass her entrance exam. The teachers' aide, she says, dumped her after she failed her entrance exams.
