In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a new character named Roxane. Roxane is the village chief's daughter, and she is extremely proud of her family's accomplishments. She is also very proud of the fact that she is the daughter of the village's chief. She tells Roxane that the village has allowed a few people to train, but two of them did not meet the requirements, and they were executed. She hopes that Roxane will not be the kind of person who wants to test his luck. She also tells him that he must be very careful since he does not have any powers, and he must enter the crystal room, where he can "resonate with the crystal" . He is afraid that the test will affect his rank. He asks Roxane to oversee his test. He tells her that the crystals in the room will drain his powers to measure his abilities. The ethereal inet made from the crystals will also drain his abilities, he says. He feels that he is scared to enter the room, but Roxane assures him that they are there to wait for his results. He says that he will sit down and meditate on his powers. The crystals will sense his powers and measure his meditate and channel his powers within him. The results are out, and Roxane declares that he has achieved human rank 1.
