Alb is so upset that he can't bear the thought of having to rely on Tartuffe's help. He begs Tartuffe to let him go, but Tartuffe refuses, saying that it's a task and that he won't go when asked. Alb asks where he's going, and Tartuffe says that he'll be back soon. Tartuffe asks where Roxane has been, and Alb says that she's been gone for a long time. He asks Roxane if she wants to join him, and she says she doesn't want to, but she'll make a decision soon. He tells her to take a rest for the night, and they'll get back together tomorrow.
