In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, Mill. He is a young man who has just turned 18 years old. He has been living with his mother and stepfather since he was a child, and he and his sister have been living together ever since. He tells us that his parents would come to visit him every year when he was younger, but his parents divorced when he turned 13, and he has never been able to celebrate his birthday with them. He says that his family has stopped caring about him, and that the fireworks will begin soon. He buys a piece of cake from the amusement park and says that he hopes he can become the violin master that he wishes to be. He wishes that he could be the one to serenade him on his birthday.
