In the rehearsal hall, the conductor brags about how he can play other string instruments and how cool it is that he's playing with a group of people dressed in their best suits. Lan is all, "Wow, that's really cool. I wish I could play the violin like that!" . He's got a lot on his mind. He wants to be the first to play the piece, and he wants to get to the front row of the orchestra, where he thinks the conductor will be watching him. Lan's worried that the conductor won't notice how hard he is trying to play, but he doesn't know what to say. The conductor comes in, and Lan is bummed out because he thinks that the musicians are bored with the same piece of music every day. Lan tells the conductor to come back the next day, and the conductor says he'll wait outside for her outside 200 club, where she's supposed to meet another girl. Lan thinks the girl is a friend of hers, and she guesses that she and the girl are complete strangers.
