The scene opens with a call to the family, in which the patriarch tells his son-in-law that the family will take no action against him if he refuses to give away his property. The patriarch tells him that he is not a bad person, and that he will give away everything he wants. He also tells him to be kind to his nephew, who is on his way to the market place. The father-son conversation is interrupted by the arrival of the uncle and the aunt, who are also on their way to market. The uncle asks the aunt why she did not smash her phone when he came to pick it up. The aunt replies that she was not "merciful enough" and that she will give everything to the uncle. She also tells the uncle that he has spoiled his daughter by giving away her property. He is angry that she has spoiled him, and he tells her that they will lose their house because of her. He then tells the aunt that the donation has been confirmed, and she thanks him for it. He tells her to take her seats and thanks the two of them for their generosity. He says that it is more important to him and the family's reputation that they donate their property than the reputation of the yin family. He adds that he must make the family lose money today.
