The scene opens with a conversation between the president and Madame Bovary. The president is about to leave for a meeting with the chairman of the country's ruling party, but the woman interrupts him to tell him that she has caught wind of the whole affair and that it was the president's fault. She tells him that if he can't bring the situation back together, she's going to have his back. He tells her that he'll think about bringing Madame xi with him to explain the situation to the people, but she says that her condition is so bad that she doesn't think it's possible. He says that if she makes an explanation, then she'll get hurt again, and that's why he's not going to let her get hurt in the future. He's the only one who hasn't changed, he says, and he won't allow her to get hurt. He thinks about the new photo of the president taking a shower and realizes that he looks like a grown
