This chapter opens with a soliloquy by Ding-dong. He tells the audience that he is his "honorable investor" and that he will answer the door himself. He asks who has rejected him and who has dumped him. He then asks if he has been robbed or dumped. He also asks if there is a gap between them and asks if they can be together. He says that he loves her and has driven away all those who approached her with " ulterior motives" because he cares for her since they were in college. He goes on to say that he has made her vice-president of a company and that his parents think of her as a "rich and powerful family" . He wonders if he can protect her as he did xixi, or can he fight the world for his love just like him ? He asks what feelings he has for her and if he stands firm against anyone who tries to hinder his relationship. He is also asked if he is clear about his feelings for ran-xiwei. He replies that he was not clear back then and that if she wants, she can just let her go.
