The scene opens with a flashback to a time when xixi and her family went to a place called "the fields of lavender" , which is described in great detail in the chapter's epigraph. The scene then shifts to the present day, where xinxi is picking flowers for her grandmother's banquet. She is overcome with emotion at the sight of the flowers, which remind her of the dream she had in which she and xinyang went to the fields. She asks if there is anyone who can guide her to the flowers. She then asks if anyone knows how to pick the flowers herself, and she is told that she will be more beautiful with the knowledge of her family. xinxia says that she does not know how her grandmother likes the flowers she chooses, but she does know that she likes everything she chooses. She tells him that she wants to be with him forever, and he says that he wants to give her the answer to the question of whether or not he likes her and if he will be with her forever
