In this chapter, the young narrator is introduced to his new friends, who are named "Yin sichen" and "Rana." He is very happy to be friends with them, but he is worried that his grandmother gave him the share of the prize money because of her disapproval of him. He tells Rana that they will have a cooking competition the next day, and Rana is very excited. She also tells him that the captain of the ship will be present at the competition, and she hopes that he will be handsome enough to be a judge. Rana also tells her that she should have written the captain's number back on the application so that she could just blow up the ship.
