In this chapter, Hiro and Fuhito continue to plot their escape from the palace. Hiro says that the princess is slowly getting weaker, and that he and his father will have to fight her again if they are to defeat her. He tells his father that he is going to fight the cards he has been dealt, because he is "that sort of person" . Hiro tells him that the current king needs his life force to survive, and the current ruler needs his own life force so that he can continue to rule. He explains that once they unite, it is possible to tell which part of the kingdom is weak and which part is strong. He asks his father to gather fire wood so that they can cross the rift. The fire wood will create a second bomb, which will cancel out the first bomb, and Hiro will be able to escape.
