About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to the "royal traditional field work" of the princess and her companions. The scene opens with the sound of a "poison gas" coming from the crater where the "me teorite" fell. The narrator tells us that this is the place where the meteor struck. He wonders if the poison gas is from the "boom ba la" , or if it is coming from "the moss spreading lushly" . He asks if they should take off their protective gear and see the "extrareterrible worth life forms" that are "different from us." The narrator asks if the princess is worried about her subor's safety, and if she will accompany him in his field work. He tells her that he feels a strange thirst for the prince, and wonders if he has been left behind by the "small lake" where he was supposed to have been able to escape. He says that the moss has grown on the surface of the lake, but that it is too small to support a life form like the prince. He suggests that the prince must have left the small lake too soon, as the moss is not growing fast enough to support the life form. He then tells the narrator that the "blood my sucker war" is going on inside the princess, and that she is paying for it by cutting off her oxygen. He claims that his blood is "nourished" by the blood of his "blood warriors" and that his kinesis is "dropping like flies." He asks the narrator to cut off his oxygen and stay in the lake.
