In this chapter, we learn that Hiro has arrived at the zoo. He's not a warrior, he's just a friend of the panda's, and he has a message for the panda: there's a lot of vampire activity in town, and there are lots of bats watching. Hiro's got a plan: he'll gather all of the bats and defeat them all, just like he did with the other vampires. He tells us that his name is Hiro, and that he is a "friend" of the Panda's. He says that he received a message from one of his bats, warning him that a man was on top of the hill, and it was too late to get there. The message was that the man's life was in danger, and Hiro was going to give him his blood to help him escape. Hiro says that if the man were to die, Hiro would become his "blood warrior" , meaning that he would no longer be able to drink the blood of any other vampire. He adds that if he were to give the man his blood, he wouldn't become a vampire, but would instead become a "blood shield" for the Panda.
