About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the "flanders g" have been "condemned to oblivion" and that the train cannon has exploded. We also learn that emil is aware of everything that has happened and is trying to figure out a way to get rid of the "monster" inside the train. He's worried that the bug will turn on him and his friends, and he's even worried that it's going to turn on his younger sister. The bug rumbles, and emil wonders why he hasn't been doing anything. He wonders if something is going on between his sister and the bug. He doesn't know, but it sounds like something's up. He swears that he won't be able to stop the bug from turning on him, and that he'll have to stay with his sister to protect her. He also wonders if the bug is coming to kill him. He can't, he swears, because the bug can only come at him from behind. This means that he has to stay away from his sister while the bug tries to attack him. It's not like emil can just run away from the bug and die. He has to fight the bug to protect his sister.
