He adds that he'd never seen the girl in the present because she was a year younger than he is now. He's not worried about the girl's safety, he says, because he knows that the invisible man will be able to find him if he wants to. He also knows that he won't have to worry about what the future will do if he tampers with the past: no one will know what will happen if he tries to tamper with the future. This is why he invented the car.
