About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the ghost of the wolf girl has been talking to the old man about the car's new technology. The old man says that the girl cannot see him because he is invisible. The ghost says that he can't be invisible because he's in the past. He says that if he were in the future, he would still be invisible. He adds that he'd never seen the girl in the present because she was a year younger than he is now. He's not worried about the girl's safety, he says, because he knows that the invisible man will be able to find him if he wants to. He also knows that he won't have to worry about what the future will do if he tampers with the past: no one will know what will happen if he tries to tamper with the future. This is why he invented the car.
