In this chapter, we find out that the curse is about to be fulfilled. It's going to be done by dawn, and that means that the vampire who took Rize's blood is going to have revenge on Rize for killing her. Rize is happy that she's willing to fight the undead, but she can't help but feel bad for the guy who took her sister's life. She's also happy that he's fighting for her, even though she hasn't seen him in a long time. Rizer tells Rize that even if the curse doesn't eat away at Rize anymore, she'll still be able to remember that he was a loyal servant to the princess. He also tells Rizer that if he were a vampire, he wouldn't need his blood anymore, because his body would heal itself. He's a blood warrior, Rizer says, and he'll tell Rize after a while whether or not he killed a vampire. He asks Rizer to stay away from his blood for a few days, so Rizer can figure out if he really did die as a vampire and if he'd been able to heal his body from the wound he received from the stake. He says that Rizer's information about the duke's whereabouts has given him a lot of money, which he can use to find another sponsor.
