This is a locked chapterChapter 1: Princess Resurrection
About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a rumble. It's the middle of the night, and a corpse is being picked up from the road. The narrator is worried about what's going to happen to the corpse. He's also worried about his sister, who's working as a housemaid. He wonders what'll happen to her if she's killed a corpse. The corpse is a good one, he says, and he's worried about how it's been treated. He also wonders if there's a light on at home, and if the only people who can work at the house are those with a "little status" and a "select warrior" . He asks the narrator to rustle up a dog to fight against his master. The dog barks at him, but he doesn't want to go any further, so he barks back at the princess. The princess asks why the dog is fighting, and the dog says that the princess is a "beast with no honor" , and that he'll gut her with his claws. He says that even if the princess kills the dog, she'll still be dishonored, because the dog has dishonored his name. He tells the princess that if she kills him, he will kill her, too, and send her to hell. He then asks the princess to give him his blood, so that he can revive the dead dog. She says that's fine, but that she'd rather die than drink the blood of a dead dog, which is what the dog does. She also says that if the dog can't drink her blood, then he can only live for a few days before he dies. She tells the dog that he will be his servant for the rest of the day.
