About This Chapter
In the second half of the game, the crowd seems to be more hostile to the team than it was during the first half, when the crowd was less hostile. When the crowd begins to boo the players, the team's defense begins to fall apart. The guys in the stands start to yell at each other, and the guys on the other side of the fence begin to yell back at them as well. They're not really fans of the team, but they're just trying to cheer up the players. They don't really care about the team at all, and they've been coming to watch the game just to see what it's like to be a tatsumi fan. The boys in the crowd, they say, are just like the other kids in high school, just hanging out and hanging out with other kids. They can't understand why the team is losing, because they'd rather be cheering for the other team than cheering for their own team. They think that the other guys are up in the air too much, and that's why they start yelling at them. They call the other boys "hoodlums" , and then they start talking about how their moms are just at the end of their rope, and how they'll never be able to live a decent life because of the way they look. They say that they's the only one who's ruined their life, and now they need him to tell them that he's not "screwing up" . He says that he hasn't been there yet, but he knows that the nicer he gets, the more he'll look like an adult.
