About This Chapter
In the second half of the Tokyo-Kojiri derby, Tomoyuki tells his team that they need to be on their best behavior. He tells them to keep their heads down and not worry about the other team's tactics. He also tells them not to get carried away with the idea that they're winning because of the president's decision to bring him in. He says that he's not worried about the presuppositions of the other club, because he doesn't want his ego to get the better of him. The other team, he tells them, is going to lock down on the 17th yard of the pitch, just like they did during the first half. They need to keep the ball in front of them, he says, and not try to steal it. He adds that the only one who needs to be kept down is the opponent, and that's what they should be doing. He asks if they've spent all their time on him, and they say that they haven't. He then tells them that the one who's had the most fun wins the game. He points out that if the goal had gone in, it would have been counted as one of the goals in the history books. They all agree that the real thing is now that they have only one ball to play with. They're going to have to make sure that they don't push the ball into the opponent's goal.
