About This Chapter
It's the end of the first half of the second game, and the players are still arguing about whether they should have stayed in the game or not. They're talking about the fact that they're young, and that they have the "spirit to continually challenge" , which is something that's lacking in the other team. The coach asks if he's okay, and he says that he was okay, too, because he saw the shot and knew that it was going to be a good one. He also says that the team is full of hungry players and that the coach doesn't seem to care about them. He's not sure if they were picked because they were hungry, or if the coach just molded them into the way he wants them to be. He says that it's his fault for not being strong enough to stop the shot, because no one under the team stands up for him. He tells the other players not to hang their heads and not to let the team slip through their defense, because people give them orders all the time. He then says that if the team gets back in it, they should cheer even more, because it'll be a young team and they've got a lot of youth on their side. They lose the first point, though, because the coach didn't press them, and they lost the chance to get back into the game. He asks the coach if he thought they could win by pressing him, and if he knew why, because a little busy their team could fight just fine, without him as the "linchpin" . He wants to make his boss into "coach victory," and he wants the coach to be "tatsumi san" worthy of him.
