In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he can see that his team is playing well, and that his opponents are trying to block his goal. He feels that his marks are loosening their watch on him, and yet he has a chance to win the game for his team, and he does so. He says that the goal is a "gift from the gods" . The narrator then says that this is the first time in his life that he has scored a goal in a big game. He also says that it is a sign that he is becoming a star.
