About This Chapter
Two years have passed, and we're back at the yakitori, where the narrator tells us that he's been gone for two years. He's not sure if he'll ever see his former roommate again, but he does know that he beat up the girl in the dorm, and that she's now a customer at the restaurant. The narrator says that his probation officer told him that once he gets old enough, the probation officer will bring him back on full-time. He tells the story of how he got back on his feet, and how he ended up going back to school. He says that he was raised by a girl who was underage, and the two of them argued about how to raise him, and then the guys who ran away from the cops ran away too. The phone was confiscated, and he didn't see any of his former classmates again. He doesn't have anyone to talk to anymore, and no one wants to be friends with him. He blames himself for everything that's happened, and says that if he keeps thinking about himself, people won't care about him anymore. He wants to know what's wrong with the world, and if he can't change, then he should just leave.
