"All right ready boys" is the first line of the chapter, and it's from the point of view of one of the guys, who's just returned from a skiing trip. He tells us that he was bummed out that he wasn't able to hang out with his friends as much as he'd like, but that he's learned to be more self-confident now that he has friends like chiaki and sensei around. He says that if you want people to give you time to improve, you have to earn it. Self-improvement, he says, is the "name of the game" that women flock to when they're looking for a man to "improve" himself. He explains that he focused on what he was good at in school and how he could use that to help him become a better person. Women flock to guys who have their "shit together" in school because they know what they want out of life, and they want someone to give them the time they need to improve themselves. If you want to be popular, you've got to be good at what you're good at, and that's what self-improvement is all about. The other guys in the room are also good at this, but they don't have the same kind of social circle as chiaki or sensei. One of them is a fashion model, the other is a distinguished family member.
