The next morning, ryu-san tells his son that he's made it through the first step in his training. He's so excited that he wants to go for a walk. Yushi-san says he'll be back in a few days, but that he doesn't want to tell ryu because he was worried that he wouldn't be able to enjoy his newfound freedom. Aww, yup. Yup, you're such a good eater, right? Yup says it's because of his own free will, not because of anyone else's. It's all up to the individual, he says, and he won't extend his hand to anyone who refuses to try. He says that even though ryu isn't as soft as he is, he is still as strict as ever. He tells Yushi to imagine that he has an "eye" on his fore head and another on his son's head, and to put it in such a way as to make it seem like he has a "third eye" , which means that he can achieve enlightenment when he puts it in a way that makes it sound like he is "cool." Yup asks ryu if he'd like to hear some music from the sirene, and ryu says that he would love to hear it.
